happy weekend.

Happy weekend, lovies! I am planning on laying low (famous last words...I'm sure by 7pm I'll be 2 bourbons deep). I saw Ben Howard in concert this week and I'm still thinking about how awesome he was live. His onstage energy is contagious and his voice is flawless. I highly recommend going to see him! If that's not a possibility, watch his Keep Your Head Up music video, because it will brighten any Friday afternoon. I've had this book for months now and after seeing a really inspiring presentation for Social Media Week (go, Emily!), I think it's time to read it and get some new ideas flowing. I also want to catch up on listening to the new Mumford & Sons album and try some new egg recipes. Seriously, everything is better with a poached egg on top of it.

pfw ss13 favorite: balmain.

Confession: I reloaded style.com this morning approximately 20 times because they were instantly uploading this show. I can't help myself, the child of the 1980s in me loves a {mildly offensive} Balmain shoulder. I am also a big fan of Olivier Rousteing... and not just because he mentioned Titanic and Romeo & Juliet in his Into The Gloss interview. Or because he makes slouchy leather pants on a man look cool. It's because he had cultivated enough creative vision to be recognized and appointed the new creative director of Balmain when he was just 25. Twenty-five. Kind of makes you wonder what your doing with your life, eh? Since Christophe Decarin relaunched the brand after bankruptcy, the Balmain woman has been reinvented into a fun-loving, risk-taking, sassy french party girl, and this season was no exception. Lots of embellishments, optical illusion prints and those fancy long sleeved minis the brand is famous for. Merci, Olivier!

fashion editors, illustrated.

Have you seen these {dead-on} illustrations that refinery 29 tapped Joana Avillez to do? Because they are fantastic. Included with the drawings are some really great little factlets about each editor... Anna Wintour wore unzipped Chanel skirts throughout both of her pregnancies and was a high school dropout. Grace Coddington was educated in a convent. When I lived in New York, I was lucky enough to catch a glimpse of some of these ladies at FNO (Anna), the ACE Awards (Kim - we sat at the same table!) & Kate (always downtown on the street - I swear, her aura just screams "badass"). They are all truly tastemakers, have their own personal style & are a huge inspiration to me.

paris vs. new york, the video.

This video is composed of pages from the book Paris vs. New York, a tally of two cities. It gave me a touch of the "missing new york"s, strangely because of the STAND CLEAR OF THE CLOSING DOORS, PLEASE. Ah, the sweet sound of the subway conductor. The touch of Sinatra didn't hurt either. I own this book, and it's a frequent conversation starter at my apartment because the imagery is just so charming. Watch & enjoy! Check out more images from the blog here.

tuesdays are for trends: camo.

 |via via via|

People wearing camo this fall are anything but blending into the street. They are also, thank goodness, not toting the usual accessories associate with this print... you know, weapons {unless stilettos count?}. Try your nearby army-navy surplus store for some awesome pieces, and if you don't have one near you there are tons of options online. Hey, why don't you sip on one of these while you're rocking this fall trend.

lfw ss13 favorite: erdem.

I imagine that if I had unlimited funds, I would spend a significant amount of it on Erdem. Erdem MoralioÄŸlu has built a reputation of perfectly blending the sassy he no doubt learned from Vivienne Westwood & the ultimate pretty from Diane von Furstenberg, the 2 designers that he had worked for previously before heading out to work on his own collection in 2005. Lots of pastels & pop colors, electro-graphic floral prints and lace this season. As Alexa Chung tweeted, "Erdem's show! Aaahhhh. Eyeball heaven." Agreed!

On Mondays this can be especially difficult. Hope you have a wonderful week!

snack&style: flower pops.

...because your dress should always match your snack, right?

nyfw ss13 favorite: calvin klein collection.

Sticking to the roots of Calvin Klein, the Spring collection was full of clean & structured silhouettes. Fransisco Costa managed to reinvent what the modern woman should be wearing... again. There was lots of emphasis on the bust & waist (hello, ladies!), but with a simplicity and taste level that was just right. Sexy, smart, polished. Calvin Klein (known to many in the fashion industry as Mr. Clean) was never much of a print man, but Costa managed to create the illusion of prints with his layering techniques and use of sheer & cut-out material. I'll take one of each look, thanks!

music video: i will wait, mumford & sons.

Mumford & Sons fan or not, you can't deny that the energy in their new music video for their most recent single, "I Will Wait", is amazing. These boys play with such passion you think they might strum the strings right off of their instruments. The energy is infectious through a computer screen, so I can only begin to imagine how incredible it was to have witnessed it in person. There is even a part where Marcus, the lead vocalist, pulls back from his mic to take it all in. IT'S SO GOOD. I haven't seen a live Red Rocks performance yet, but a select few of my most favorite live albums were recorded there so it's definitely on my bucket list. Push play & enjoy!

nyfw ss13 favorite: oscar de la renta.

It was nearly impossible for me to pick just 8 looks from this amazing show. I love when a designer tells several mini stories in one presentation, and that's exactly what Mr. de la Renta did for Spring. He kept you guessing what was coming out next, and it was consistently fantastic. Although Oscar typically dresses an uptown lady, the materials (LATEX!), textured embellishments & feathers gave a youthful pop to this collection that was pretty awesome. Speaking of youthful, did you catch his children's show today? Cutest. Thing. Ever.

i love your blog, wolves & bucks.

tony stone

Wolves & Bucks is one of my favorite photo blogs. I don't have too much background on it, but I know the photos are taken by Tony Stone & Adeline Rapon. I also know that they are dating, French, and way cooler than me. Also, Tony's tattoos are rad. I really admire how some photographers can catch the artistry in every day life, and this is definitely one of those instances. They capture the beauty of the world, their friends & their romance in their photos with a simplicity that's really endearing. Here are my favorites from their most recent post below.

nyfw ss13 favorite: tommy hilfiger.

Tommy Hilfiger stayed true to his preppy roots with his Spring 2013 collection. The collection consisted of mainly smart, time-honored separates given a sporty vibe with bold red, white & blue directional patterns. The man knows what works for his brand and consistently delivers on the runway.  It was classic American fashion reinvented, and I loved it.

nyfw ss13 favorite: peter som.

Fancy florals, pastels & soft brights, structured Spring coats, lady skirts & crop tops were strutting down the runway at Peter Som. This was one for the girly girls, and I loved it. Plus, there was UNICORN HAIR.

By the way, do you follow Peter Som on Pinterest? Because his boards are insane. Get involved.

nudo-italia flavored olive oils.

Are these just the sweetest packaged olive oils you ever did see? Nudo makes many wonderful products, but I have a serious crush on their flavored olive oils. They even give their customers the opportunity to adopt their own olive oil tree in Italy! Pretty. Fancy. In New York we used to gather at my friend's apartment with a huge french loaf and some vino and just dip & sip & sip & dip. I suggest you do the same. Look, now you have an excused to have a dinner party! You're welcome!

cuff me.

|via|

Aren't these ear cuffs fancy? I love the idea of a newly placed ear accessory without the crippling fear of a piercing gun. Those crazy Brits over at ASOS have tons of fun options. My favorites, in order from simple snake charmer to blinged out wild woman (with a Greek goddess in between) are here, here & here.

tuesdays are for trends: oxblood.

| via, via, via |

Greetings, September & Hello, Fall Trends! One of my favorite trends for Fall 2012 is the color oxblood. This deep hue is showing up everywhere from dresses to accessories to lip colors, and I dig. Since this shade is a little aggressive, I think it looks most chic paired with an ivory or white.  What's your favorite way to wear this shade?
